Thailand Here I Come
Four short months ago I was informed a team was being assembled to start a long-term missionary base in Chiang Mai, Thailand. This began a roller coaster of interest and disinterest as I weighed pros and cons and began to pray into pursuing this opportunity. After numerous conversations and diligent prayer I am excited to say I have committed to move to Thailand!
My first experience in Thailand was a year ago when I served there for a month while on the World Race. Little did I know one day I would be going back and calling Thailand home. Thailand is a country full of opportunity and I am so excited to return there and do life alongside Buddhist monks, sex-trafficking victims, and backpackers from all over the world.
I have committed to Thailand for a minimum of 2 years with Adventures in Missions to help establish a base for their long-term presence.
Our team’s focus will be establishing a hostel, hosting World Race and short term teams, developing Kingdom partnerships, and spearheading discipleship and church planting efforts in the country. My main role will be as Operations Manager of the hostel and base. I will be responsible for providing spiritual and operational support for the development and execution of base operations and ministry.
Coming to this decision was not easy. The thought of moving to another country long-term has been overwhelming at times. Leaving friends and family again will be difficult but I believe this is where God is leading me and He’s simply asking me to trust Him. I have said “yes,” but this is where it merely begins!
As I begin this journey, there are two real needs that I have. First, I need your prayers. I’m confident this is where God is leading me but I’m also aware we will face much spiritual opposition. Knowing you will be praying for me as I serve in Thailand will bring much joy and confidence to me.
